Static load tests of pile

Static testing is a traditional method of measuring the load capacity of piles during jacking, pulling or horizontal loading. The course of the study shall be determined on the basis of standard guidelines or developed for specific project. The test loads of the pile should be given in increments up to the maximum set value. Readings on the test pile settlement should be taken at regular intervals until the value is stabilized. The force is measured by reading the pressure on the pressure gauge. The control of the movement of the pile heads is carried out by means of a levelling instrument. The static test of pile resistance may be performed using anchor piles, ballast or retaining structure and additional ballast.

It is also possible to perform a test with the use of an actuator which is placed inside the pile. This makes it possible to use a part of the pile as a retaining structure and eliminate the need for additional anchoring piles.
